Keeping your home free from mould is vital if you want to stay healthy and keep things in pristine condition, but it can thrive in certain environments.
The dampness of your bathroom means that mould is able to grow, even in hard-to-reach spaces such as the silicone sealant around the shower area.
But before you reach for the harsh chemicals to try and remove it, experts have instead suggested a method that uses a common kitchen ingredient that you probably already have in your cupboards.
The Express reports that cleaning whizzes at Fantastic Services recommend two natural products that fight to remove mould and can even stop it from coming back.
Baking soda is one of these, as it "works great" as a mould remover.
All you need to do is mix it with some water until it forms a paste, then spread it around any areas in the bathroom where you have mould, such as around the sink and shower.
Then, using an old toothbrush, scrub the mould and rinse off with water.
That isn't the only kitchen ingredient that can be used to tackle the difficult task of mould removal.
White vinegar can also do the job, with experts at Plumb Nation agreeing, saying it's a "brilliant mould deterrent".
They said: “Its acidity makes it impossible for mould to grow, and vinegar can clean up to 82 percent of mould species.”
Simply spray the vinegar solution onto the affected areas and wipe the surface with warm water after an hour. Dry the surface thoroughly with a towel to prevent any mould re-growth.
Spraying white vinegar on mould-prone surfaces every couple of days will help to keep it at bay.
But for stubborn areas, you can mix it with bicarbonate of soda to make a paste and leave it on overnight, scrubbing it away in the morning.
Another preventative measure is to always make sure your bathroom surfaces are wiped down after showering, as this means it will be harder for mould to grow.
Ventilation is also highly important, so open a window every once in a while or invest in an extractor fan.
